Thoughts on Santa from a 5 year old....

Since Thanksgiving, Chase had been learning a lot about Christmas at school. He would come home everyday asking questions, and lots of them! They were not the usual type questions, they were strange, weird, funny, and crazy ones. A few of them would be:

Chase: "Mom, when Santa comes to our house, where does he park his sleigh?"

Mom: "Well on the roof!"

Chase: "On the roof? Won't he fall off? Our roof is too steep! Remember you don't like dad on there. What about the reindeer?"

Mom: "Sometimes if the roofs are too steep, Santa will park the reindeer on the driveway."

Chase: "Won't I see him when I look out the window?"

Mom: "Well, if you look out the window then Santa won't come inside."

Chase: "OHHHH! How does he come into our house? We don't have a chimney!"

Mom: "Santa has a special key that will open every door for him!"

Chase: "Wow! That is cool!"

Later that week, Chase had a few more questions for me. I never had to think so hard with Cade so Chase had me thinking real hard!

Chase: "Mom? You know how we have a "No Shoe Rule" in our house?"

Mom: (puzzled look) "Yes."

Chase: "Well, when Santa comes in, will he take off his boots?"

Mom: "Chase, if he were to take off his boots in every home, it would take a long time for him to get back home. So No he doesn't take them off."

Chase: "What if he brings in dirt and snow? You know that makes mud don't you?"

Mom: "I know it does. But somehow it doesn't come into our homes."

Chase: "Won't we see where he walked?"

Mom: (really thinking hard on this one!) "Santa has a Magic Elf that follows behind him and cleans it up!"

Chase: "What if he uses out toilet? Will the Magic Elf clean that too?"

Mom: "I am not sure, but I think if Santa were to leave a mess the Magic Elf would be sure it was cleaned up!"

If anyone remembers the story of the "Chase and the Filthy Bus", you know how he like to keep things clean and smell good. Needless to say, Chase is our very inquisitive boy and really thinks things through. We are grateful for this quality of his, but all these questions really made me think HARD! I am going to have to remember everything in case Kyler asks one day and Chase will tell me "No mom! Remember you told me this?"

That's too funny!! I could totally picture Chase's face with every question (and if he's anything like Corbyn, he WILL remember every little detail!!!)

That's awesome! He's totally testing you. What a cutie! I love it! I'm impressed with your answers too - I think I need a little Magic Elf myself :)

Wow! Your answers were detailed! Good luck remembering all that! I know my kids catch me all the time when I change my story even slightly! And where do I sign up for the Magic Elf service?

You are a cute mom and a quick one to answer with very good detail. Way to go Jaime. You seem so patient. I hope you don't mind me checking out your blog. I have been having fun this past week checking out facebook and catching up with people that we went to school with. YOU look just the same. How do you do that?
